Hi – I’m looking for a flowering shrub or tree for the front of my yard. Looking for something that is hardy, and flowers as much as possible during the spring and summer. But not an azalea or a hydrangea or a rododenderun. It is probably half sun and half shade throughout the day. Something that may get up to 8 feet in height (tops). I would love a weeping cherry but my lawn guy thinks there may not be enough sun. The soil is fairly acidic. I would prefer something that grows a little wide. I live in Wilton. Any recommendations? If it isn’t sunny enough for a flowering cherry then your options are limited for flowers in a generally shady area. 

One suggestion would be clethra.  It can thrive in partial shade.  More on clethra HERE:
