I would like to plant two fruit trees in a full sun area in my back yard about 10 feet apart in somewhat sandy soil. I’m wondering if now is the best time or if its best to wait a few more weeks. I was thinking cherry for the fruit and flowers or crab apple not sure what typically is hearties and does best for a somewhat novice gardener.

Now through the end of May is best…the earlier the better.  For cherries you’ll need to plant two sweet or two tart varieties to insure cross pollination for fruit.  Crabapples are ornamental so no need to plant two.
