I planted a dwarf Japanese Maple this past spring.  What needs to be done to protect it from winter (if anything).  Live in Schenectady NY

If the area is very windy a burlap windbreak on the north and west side would be good.

Wrapping the trunk with tree wrap to protect the bark from mice and voles nibbling under the snow would also be a good idea.
