Hello- one of my flower garden beds has been plagued with a fungus the last 2 years. I am determined to start this year off right- what do I need to do to kill it? It shows as a white residue at the base of plants, I see it in mulch and it turns leaves spotted. I have a wiegela and hydrangea that are most affected, if that makes any difference. Thank you!

It could be any number of fungal diseases.  I’d suggest spraying preventatively with garden sulfur, an organic fungicide that’s been around forever.  Preventing fungal disease is much more effective that trying to control them once they take hold.  HERE’S a link to the product…repeat applications before the onset is critical.  Click on the link to the label to read the instructions.
