Hi I spotted a young maple tree that I wanted to transplant to a new location. When I dug it up, it appeared to be part of a root of a larger nearby tree. I sawed off what appeared to be the main vein and planted the little tree which was about 8 feet with lots of leaves. Assuming I did the planting right, will the tree grow? Thanks.

Time will tell.  This would have been best done when the tree was dormant like early spring before it leafed out.  Keep it well watered and you’ll find out next spring if you were successful.
