I have patches of lighter colored, grass in my lawn. The blades don’t grow straight up, they off at angles like spikes and they grow faster than the rest of the lawn. It looks like some wild grass and is spreading. I can send a picture if you give me an email address. Is there any way to get rid of it while preserving the good grass?pdmiraglia@gmail.com

It is too early for it to be crabgrass which grows from seed each year.  It sounds like Orchard grass”  Since it is a grass and not a broadleaf weed, weed killer won’t work on it.  Anything that will kill it will kill the lawn grass as well.  Here’s a link you’ll find informative:  https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/orchardgrass
