I have a ground cover in 2 sections of my lawn. It has some berries on parts that appear to be blackberries. It is low to the ground (not bushes). Could this be a variation of a blackberry plant and how do I get rid of them? I tried uploading some pics but the site would not let me. Nor would it let me register. I appreciate any informatio and advice that you can provide.
Yes, blackberries spread by underground roots and will invade a lawn. You best bet for getting rid of it will be Bonide Chickweed and Clover Killer spray. Used according to the instructions on the package, it will kill the raspberry and other weeds but not the lawn. Be aware that it shouldn’t be applied to a very dry lawn or when temps are above 85° or it may kill the grass as well. Since it is coming from shoots, it may return so repeat applications might be necessary.
