The trunk of my Kwanzaa tree had a crack this winter and is now splitting open, exposing an inner smooth trunk. Is this a problem? (I was unable to insert the image.)

I’m familiar with the problem. It’s a result of the warm January then sudden freeze in early February. The tree will grow over it eventually. To prevent this, wrap the trunk with tree wrap next Oct/Nov. Nothing needs to be done now.
