the front of our house faces the north.  we have Rhododendrons and burning bushes planted there but they have never really bloomed well and the burning bushes never have turned red in the fall.  i would like to plant some shrubs that will bloom , preferably for the whole season.

i love Hydrangeas .  would they work and bloom all summer?

could you recommend some shrubs that will grow in this spot?

thanks

The problem your rhodos and burning bush have is that there isn’t enough sun for them.  The same would be true for hydrangeas. There really aren’t any shrubs that flower all summer except roses and it is too shady on the north side for them to flower.  Look into Clethra for flowering in shade.
