I have a beautiful citron tree growing in a huge pot in my house. A new tree has begun growing right next to the original one. I would like to separate the new growth and replant it as it may take away nourishment from the full grown one. I can’t seem to get the new one out as the roots are intertwined and attached the the original one and I feel as though I am ripping everything in the pot apart. What is the correct way to get these two apart without killing either one?

Honestly I’d simpl cut off the smaller new growth. It is probably a sucker growing off the original plant and there’s now good way to separate to two without doing harm to the main plant.
