We have a back yard that is never in direct sun for more than a couple of hours. We want to plant taller perennials that are a mix of grasses and flowering to go in front of our wooden fence and around green giant arborvitae. We lose a lot of plantings because the sun can be so different across the backyard and things grown differently just 3 feet away from each other.
It sounds like you need shade plants. A couple of hours isn’t much sun. Look for Hostas, astilbe, cimicifuga, epimedium, Hakone grass…the list is large. I’d suggest dropping by and reading tags when the perennials arrive. Visit every couple of weeks since we get perennials in constantly and the selections varies with where we are in the season…spring flowering first then summer flowering and so on as the season progresses.
