I am planning to purchase blueberry plants (Patriot & Blueray). I am zone 5b and will bring the plants into an unheated basement during the winter (temp averages 35-50 degrees). I purchased a plastic food safe 55 gallon barrel and cut it in 1/2. This gives me two pots that are 24 inches in diameter and 17 inches in height. Do you recommend one plant in each or two plants in each?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’d suggest planting them outside where you want to grow them long term.

To hold them over winter in the big post two will be fine.  If you plant on growing them in the big pots forever, then just one per pot.
