Every year Spider Lilies bloom in my yard but never in the same place. Sometimes there are a few and other times they are prolific. My question is how did they get here I have never planted them and have never before seen them so I had to search to discover what they are. I just discovered they come from a bulb so could the squirrels have transplanted them. They are beautiful and my husband and I look forward to every September to see how many will bloom. This year is the largest production we have ever seen. Should we transplant them or leave them alone. Rita
Another name for spider lilies is “surprise lilies” since they are known for popping up almost anywhere. While they do grown from bulbs, they also produce seeds which can be moved about by birds, squirrels or even a heavy wind. You can transplant the bulbs later once they are dormant to add to your display if you wish. Have fun!
