We are in Zone 5a.  We have very acidic sandy soils.  Grass even grows poorly.  Mossy and very sunny.  The area I want to plant with trees is along the roadside probably 10 feet from the road.  Will get some sand/salt mix in winter from plows.  What trees will survive and thrive in these conditions and is it possible to grow any flowering trees (no fruit producing)?

I’d suggest Amelanchier aka service berry, a nitive tree/large shrub..  Here’s a list of other options
