I was hoping you could help me. I am looking to purchase a tree to plant in memorial to my late boyfriend. My one concern is that I will be having it planted in Hoosick Falls, which is the town dealing with the PFOA water/soil contamination. So I am concerned that if I plant this tree, it will not do well because of this issue. Knowing this I also don’t know what type of tree to purchase. It will be most likely in sunny open “park” area. If you could please provide me with any help tips I would truly appreciate it. Thank you
I’d suggest an oak tree. They are very hardy and long-lived. Any pfoa present in the soil won’t have any detrimental effect on the tree. HERE’S A LINK to more on pfoa and plants.
