I’d suggest letting the garter snakes alone. They are great at controlling rodents like mice that carry the fleas that carry the ticks that give you lime disease.

Having said that, snakes don’t like mint much so it might help keep them away. We also sell a snake repellent although I can’t vouch for its effectiveness since I’ve never used it.
