The first thing to do is to get down and inspect where the trunk enters to soil. Make sure that bark or other mulch hasn’t been piled up against the bark of the tree or that the tree hasn’t been planted too deeply. Brush back any mulch and soil away from the trunk until you fin the original soil that the tree came in and keep it that way.
