My father in law planted cherry and apple trees about a year and a half ago and is now moving. We were going to try and transplant those trees to my home but it is June in Nebraska, what are some things we can do to increase the odds of survival with transplanting?

The chances for them making it are slim since you’re digging them up right during the peak of the growing season.  Have the holes where their getting moved to ready and waiting so they spend the minimum time out of the ground as possible.  Cut the branches back about 1/3  or remove 1/3 of the branches.  Dig up and maintain as large a root ball as possible wrapped in burlap.  If the dirt falls off the root ball, they won’t have a chance.  Keep wet and get into the new location ASAP.  Keep moist and cross you fingers…this is a long shot.
