Peter,

We have a female dog and her urine burns a section of our back lawn terribly.  We have tried many things and nothing helps.  While we continue to work on training her to go in an area of the yard where there is no grass, I am looking for advice on how to fertilize the lawn without adding to much nitrogen since I read that the issue is nitrogen in the soil.  It looks like every fertilizer we find has a pretty high nitrogen number.  Thanks.

It will be difficult to find a lawn food low in nitrogen since lawns need it..  The best bet would be lo look into an Organic lawn food like Espoma.  Nitrogen is less in organic foods and much of it is very slow release.
