i have a dwarf plum, santa rosa I think.  It has a sucker branch off the main trunk that is now dominating.  Ive trimmed it back to try balance.  The whole tree had blooms and two small fruit on the sucker.  I can take off the sucker, its 60% of the foliage now.  Or let it stay.  Tree is only a few years old, maybe 5 foot tall max.  I dont want to take it off and go back to the smaller main trunk, but is that best long term?

I have pictures but it wont let me upload.

Yes, it is best to remove the suck growth. The keep after them and remove them as soon as they appear.
