You’ll have to use a pesticide.  Bayer 25 Hour Grub Killer plus will also kill the ants and ticks.  It needs to be watered in with at least an inch of water after application.  Once that has been done and the area dries out, it is off the surface of the soil.  The chemical then break down quickly after about 48 hours.
