Don’t worry about the new leaf. Keep it dryand cool for about 10 weeks (or longer if you wish) or so and then pot it up and water it to get it started again.

You’ll have to refer to your spreader’s ownser’s manual and find the setting for 4 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. which is the rate at which Winterizer should applied.
For a single piece, sumply dug out the dead sod/weeds so thet , when you put the sod down it is level with the surrounding area. Here’s a link to instructions from our supplier.
