We have two Asian pear trees in our backyard. They both have pear rust on the leaves. We noticed it starting to spread to other trees in our backyard. What should we do about this? Are the trees a total loss? We are thinking they may need to be removed to stop spreading to other trees. Thank you!
pear rust should only affect the pear and junipers that are the hosts for the fungus. If the trees are severely affected they may need to be removed by they often rebound. If conditions are less favorable for the rust next year, you may not see it. Here’s a link you may find helpful. http://www.ladybug.uconn.edu/FactSheets/pear-trellis-rust.php
